United Way of South Central Oklahoma has completed our 2023 Day of Caring! Day of Caring is an annual event designed to serve hundreds of our community members. For the last three years, UWoSCO has been able to obtain grants for the purchase of energy efficient space heaters. Our goal has been to help provide warmth to those in need during the winter months for free. This year, with the help of our volunteers, we were able to serve 406 individuals through 180 households by handing out free heaters. Thank you to OG&E, Church of Christ of Merrick Drive, and the McCrory Foundation for the grant dollars to purchase the heaters. We would also like to thank OG&E, RSVP-INCA Community Services and Johnston County Veterans Center for volunteering their time.
